I'm a small town girl writing the kind of stories I've struggled to find on library shelves.

A lover of butterflies, tiny dragons, and all things delicious, I craft stories that sweep readers away into a safe world where their minds can play and their hearts can rest. 

 

​I remember the day my favorite librarian told me I needed to leave the Children's section and explore Young Adult novels. Eagerly I followed her up those carpeted stairs and allowed the hideous paisley print to guide me into a whole new world. It didn’t take long for me to become hooked.

It also didn’t take long for me to be burned.

 

Unhappy endings, confusing worlds, characters I didn’t relate to, and didn’t want to become like. Problems that felt far removed from the dragons I was facing in my own life. Each bad story dimmed my imagination's spark a little more.

Now, when I'm not checking thrift stores for new flannels, baking muffins, or organizing my bookshelves by rainbow I am writing the stories I wish I had found on those library shelves.

 

Stories where the characters struggle with things you can relate to, where endings are hopeful and realistic, and the worlds aren’t packed with a hundred intricate details so your imagination has room to play. Stories where sarcastic mentors and tiny animal sidekicks prevail.  But most of all safe stories that encourage readers they can face their own dragons.
